Beyond Boundaries: Exploring the World through Language Learning

CONNECTIONS

The interdisciplinary nature of language is often overlooked; a language is more than ‘just a language’. With “Connections”, this goal area broadens one’s worldviews to include other perspectives through multiple lenses. Someone who speaks Italian might connect with their love of opera, or a Spanish speaker may improve their language skills on the soccer field. This interdisciplinary application exponentially expands our sense of the world through the various professions, hobbies, and interests we might have in the future, from environmental studies to journalism. Studying languages is not a means to an end, but it is also the vehicle that connects us to the communities in which we live and work.
