Beyond Boundaries: Exploring the World through Language Learning

COMPARISONS

When we learn a foreign language we naturally make “Comparisons” between our target language and our native tongue. As we dive deeper into linguistic comparisons, we also conceive cultural comparisons. The world becomes a bit smaller and more connected as we use language as a tool to learn about and appreciate other cultures. At Barnard, we foster connections through linguistic and cultural comparisons. Students and faculty share how their own language journeys have shaped the way they see the world.
