Oregon State Board of Higher Education

The Oregon State Board of Higher Education (OSBHE) was the statutory governing board for the public universities in Oregon from its establishment in 1929 to its dissolution in 2015, when most of the individual public universities adopted their own governing boards. In 1949, Thomas Moore, executive director of the Progressive Party of Oregon, sent a letter to the OSBHE advocating for the two professors. His request was denied, and the board supported President Strand's actions.
