Symbolic

Eye of Horus

The Greek words, Syn (together) and bole-(cast) would have one
think of the symbolic and the symbolized as coplanar entities which could be
meshed together as one whole, or at least juxtaposed, presumably for
comparison. But on this virtual coordinate system, I’d put things slightly
differently, pushing the symbolized unto a different plane, and introducing an
observer into the frame, one to which the latter plane is inaccessible, unlike
the former. The symbolic to me is our formula for the interpretation of a
reality that eludes uniform comprehension. For the man contemplating an
abstract truth, the symbolic offers a tangible foothold on which he can be
supported, to navigate his nebulous path. Whatever path he deems fit to be
taken here on is completely his choice, and may differ from those of others;
the symbolic merely nudges us in a certain direction, it never slaps us square
on the face with a uniform truth. eye of horus

Yet returning, out of respect for their esteemed culture, to
the ‘Greek-plane’, I find that the symbolic and the symbolized as a single
unit, function to simultaneously stimulate our physical and our ‘sixth-senses’
if you may, in a manner that provokes a deeper understanding of said unit.
