Recreating Recipes of Those Passed Away

"When I was little, my father's mother lived with us, and she had a lot of older brothers and sisters so they would die, often, because they were really old and I was young... and so we went to funerals a lot, and they would all try to figure out at the funerals, like, how to make the person who died's food, and like, 'Who knows how to do this?' and so before this is lost from our elders, like 'When she said this, what do you do?' and like try to boil it and be like 'No, she fried it'... so there'd be all this messing up with these recipes and trying to figure out how to make it before that was lost."
