How did this place get started?

Started by Annie's father -- he's still back there as the main chef right now. He started as the dishwasher at Sawatdee, probably the first Thai restaurant in the Twin Cities. And then he worked his way up to being a chef there; I think he worked there about seven years. And that's when he decided to open his own restaurant, this one - Lao Thai - became open in 1996.
