Marketing Book
The archival artifact referred to as the Marketing Book is a large book in which marketing material from the 1970s was collected. This book is filled with neatly labeled news clippings pertaining to Saint Mary’s College, including every instance Saint Mary’s College was mentioned in newsprint nationwide. These news articles vary in their relevance to Saint Mary’s College with some only mentioning the College's name in passing (generally as a reference to an affiliated student, alumnae, professor, or event) and others being detailed articles on the College itself. It is presumed that these articles were collected and stored together to serve as a way to monitor the College’s media presence and to understand how the public perceived Saint Mary’s.
The articles presented include: “The Changing Face of Saint Mary’s,” “Women’s Colleges Thriving, Says New Head of Saint Mary’s,” “Three Problems Complicated N.D, Saint Mary’s Merger,” “Women's Colleges Flourish With Lib Movement,” “Saint Mary’s College and Notre Dame,” “Role Changing For Women Colleges,” “Feminine Horizon,” “Shapiro Attacks The Antifeminism In Literature,” and “Presentation Debs Have A Ball.”
