Hartmann Schedel

Born in Nuremberg, Germany, Hartmann Schedel (1440-1514) was a humanist historian and cartographer (as well as a physician) who is best known for penning the Nuremberg Chronicle. While he was himself no world traveler, his maps, in addition to being some of the earliest printed, represented several cities and countries for the first time.
