Practice-Based Research Methods
This section discusses some sample research methods that are often used in practice-based research. These are actual plans to follow when conducting practice-based research; please note, however, that as every project has its own specific affordances, limitations, and considerations, you will want to customize the research method to suit each project. You’ll also want to make sure you describe the method for your research thoroughly in the critical exegesis for each practice-based project.
These research methods include auto-ethnomethodology, textual and discourse analysis, cognitive models, and reflection; the section ends with a practical approach to applying these methods to a practice-based research project. This short guide will briefly outline these methods, and offer further resources for more details.
