In this process, a negative image is printed onto a gelatinous surface which is then affixed to a plate of copper. A series of chemical baths eat away the gelatin, leaving a positive image etched onto the surface of the copper plate. These copper plates are then used to make high quality prints on paper for galleries or publishing.
