We did keep the discussion of Curtis and his life/history to a minimum both because it's been done well before (by Gidley as you suggest) as well as to foreground the different kinds of work we're doing here. We aren't interested in writing a life of Curtis, we'd like the work to focus instead on the people who appear in and are connected to the images. That work is not here yet, but we'd like it to be.
