McCarthyism at Queens College
This part of the exhibit tells the unfolding story of McCarthyism at Queens College during the 1940s-1950s. Text and images are adapted from a previous exhibit that was installed in the Rotunda of the Benjamin Rosenthal Library at Queens College from September 2 through October 18, 2003 that was curated by Dorothy Pita (Queens College alumnus) and Lawrence Kaplan (Queens College alumnus and Professor Emeritus of History at City College), with the assistance of designer Alice Sprintzen and Queens College Archivist Stephen Barto. Pita and Kaplan were students at Queens College during the period portrayed. The content is presented chronologically in the five sections listed below: Assault, Intimidation, Investigation, Expulsion, and Restitution.
