Kane in Continuity

Kane & Continuity

In his article “Digital Transformations and the Archival Nature of Surrogates,” Paul Conway discusses how digitization not only preserves archival materials, but allows them to transcend their original value. Our digitization process seeks to fulfill this vision; our digitized photographs, are published on this site. This site will not only allow for Welles scholars and enthusiasts to view them from anywhere in the world, but also allows us to re-contextualize these materials in meaningful ways.

This exhibit allows users to explore the sets of Citizen Kane in ways not possible outside of the digital realm. This path takes the user through Citizen Kane scene by scene, placing the photographs side-by-side with stills from the film.
