While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

You are nervous because you know that there is powerful music within and you want to remain prepared at all times. You then reach a set of tall, slim trees. They are red and white, and all of a sudden your eyes start watering. You squint at a sign, it reads "You have reached, The Peppermint Forest, be careful". Before you have a chance to wonder who could have written that the music begins... You know immediately that this is chant. The long drone tones and the group sound give it away. You immediately take out your notebook and your pencil as you try to quickly come up with a way to notate this. Unfortunately because this piece appears to be in Latin, you don't understand any of the words. To combat this you attempt your own form of notation. You try to draw the musical contours of the piece in a spiral format.
However just as quickly as the song began, the song ended. And you were left with an almost unrecognizable form of notation. While it looked pretty no one would be able to sing from that. you knew that you had to do better next time. Candyland was depending on you.
