Goodbye Candyland/ References
"AH" you scream. Your eyes open and you are no longer in Candyland. You are at Spelman College 30 minutes away from taking your History of Western Music final. "I must have dosed off" you muse, "what a weird dream". As you gather up your belongings and walk down to the music building you muse over everything that happened in the dream Candyland. You hope that Gramma Nut is ok and you certainly hope that Gloppy hasn't trapped someone else. Most of all you hope that Candyland is safe and that the music there is preserved. As you walk you take out your pencil and paper one more time, to give another crack at trying to notate a piece without neumes. This piece is  Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre, Pièces de clavecin: Suite in A Minor, Menuet.
You are not sure why you tried again but you did and the result came out much the same as the last time. While before you attempted to draw the melodic contour in a spiral this time you decided to draw it with the page bisected in half. Because the form of the piece is A:B:A1:B1. With the prime sections being a little quieter and very slightly different.

You did this in this manner because what you learned from Candyland is that while certain things are not as straightforward or easy to understand, it is the emotion behind them that matters. At least thats how you feel. Maybe things will be different the next time around...
