Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

These are the meal plans that are offered to all students that are not in their first are second years at CWRU. Again, CWRU requires all upperclass men that are living in residential housing to be apart of a meal plan. If a student were to never be able to move off campus in their college career, they would have to pay for a required meal plan each semester. The approximate costs per meal for all plans are:
Unlimited (@ 21 meals/week): $8.61
Apartment (@ 5 meals/week): $16.89
Apartment (@ 7 meals/week): $16.98
Apartment (@ 10 meals/week): $14.84
10 meals/week: $16.09
14 meals/week:$11.77
17 meals/week: $10.09
19 meals/week: $9.08
10 meals/week (Halal/Kosher): $15.84
14 meals/week (Halal/Kosher): $12.69
This information appears to show a favor in the students purchasing the larger meal plans. However, the more optimal prices per meal swipe cost larger per semester. In conclusion, the meal plans at CWRU appear to function in a way that provides the most profit which is not in the students favor. The students that pay more towards housing are required to also purchase a meal plan which makes the board and housing payment even larger. CWRU students also have a large tuition rate on average comparatively. This will be covered later on. The burden of a more expensive housing payment causes even more stress for some families than the tuition rate alone. It is now time to look at the main aspects identified in the meal plan system and service that explain why the price of the meal plan is too expensive.
