Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

Ec(H)ology - Week 2

When discussing the term ‘meaning’ in correlation with a natural landscape, one can only establish a connection between plant worlds and Ec(H)ology. The story regarding Echo, and the rejection of man, draws a substantial understanding to the connection that nature plays amongst the humanity. Whether this connection or relationship comes in the forms of love and beauty or even language or speech, natures adherence and bearing on human emotions perpetually identifies the certain calmness or hesitancy of a human’s actions when enduring micro-landscapes. The photo above identifies three different types of connection through the calmness and beauty of the light, to the tall deep-rooted trees stabilising the natural world around it. The beauty between both human connection and the natural landscape delves further into the relationship between man and nature and the ideology surrounding forms of rebirth or even reincarnation. Remember without beautiful forests or eco-systems which establish foundations for humanity, we will no longer have humanity!
