Kaifeng Torah Scroll
The scroll of the Torah originated in the city of Kaifeng (formerly known as Bianliang) and was representative of the vibrant Chinese Jewish community in the city and was said to have been located on the banks of the Yellow River. This scroll was used in the synagogue up until around 1800. This scroll was made using 94 strips of thick sheepskin along with silk thread. There are 239 columns of Hebrew text copied in a Hebrew square script.
