Worldbuilding Professional Portfolio

Workshops

The worldbuilding process includes research, community-based workshops, expert interviews, prototyping, systems research, narrative development, and working to find the ideal outputs for the final expressions of the world (e.g., films, books, immersive experiences, etc.). Of these, the most significant aspect for me has been the workshop process. I have:Most recently, I helped kickstart and am now co-leading a worldbuilding collaboration between the World Building Media Lab and the Bridge@USC, an interdisciplinary project at the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences dedicated to connecting the sciences and the arts. To date, this project has included workshops with up to 40 participants from the arts and sciences working together to envision the world inside a human cell, and then develop experiences enabling scientists and students to step inside of it. I am also working with Marientina Gotsis on a Research Collaboration Fund application to organize worldbuilding workshops on how future sensory technologies may impact the patient experience in hospitals and doctor’s offices.
