1. Janet Badia Janet Badia, Professor of Women’s Studies, served as director of the Women’s Studies Program from 2009-2021, when she left the position to become Dean of the newly formed College of Liberal Arts. During her tenure as director, the Women’s Studies Program was recognized as one of the fastest growing programs at IPFW, and in May 2016 the program graduated its largest class in its history under her leadership. She also directed the program during one of its most tumultuous times, leading the charge with students, alumni, and faculty and community supporters to have the program reinstated after it was shut down in fall 2016, alongside several other programs in the liberal arts.

Student Achievement: Awards and Scholarships Over the past fifty years, influential leaders and generous funding has enabled the (I)PFW Women's Studies Program to establish six current scholarships to support the WOST student community's study and research.

JOAN DALEY UEBELHOER OUTSTANDING WOMEN'S STUDIES MAJOR AWARD

Named after devoted instructor and activist Joan Daley Uebelhoer, this scholarship is awarded to the all-around best student whose commitment to women's studies includes "excellence in scholarship, a commitment to social justice, and activism on behalf of women."

COMMUNITY FRIENDS OF WOMEN'S STUDIES INC.

Community Friends of Women's Studies awards scholarships to first-generation students at Purdue Fort Wayne and students in their early student career.

LINDA C. FOX MERIT SCHOLARSHIP

In Spring 2009, longtime director Linda C. Fox was honored through the foundation of a scholarship in her name given to the top-performing women's studies major each year.

MARTHE ROSENFELD - MARY LEE RICHESON SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship has provided financial support for students researching topics in women's studies since 1993.

WOMEN'S STUDIES OUTSTANDING RESEARCH ESSAY AWARD

Provided by the Community Friends of Women's Studies, Inc., this award recognizes the best student paper written for a women's studies class each year.
