Rewriting the African Diaspora... (2005)
Zeleza argues that African diaspora studies, under the influence of Black Atlantic theory, tends to privilege the Atlantic sphere in general and the Anglophone and American branch of the African diaspora specifically. He critiques Gilroy's text and explores competing conceptions of the "Black Atlantic," ultimately positing four dimensions of the global African diasporas: the intra-Africa, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean, and Atlantic diasporas.
