Origins of the Black Atlantic (2013)
Published two decades after Gilroy's seminal monograph, this text contributes to the study of the history of slavery that defined the Black Atlantic by recovering the perspectives, experiences, and political ideas of the enslaved peoples who played an integral role in creating the modern Atlantic world. The diverse collection brings together significant contributions to this area of study that draw upon a range of theoretical orientations and methodological approaches to critically interrogate the African people of the Atlantic, the lives they lived, and the ideas they developed and negotiated.
