Sony has surprised gamers by announcing the release of the PS5 Slim models, including both the standard version with a disc drive and the Digital Edition. This news comes alongside the revelation that an optional attachment – an attachable disc drive – will be launched alongside the Digital Edition, a detail that Insider Gaming had exclusively reported over a year ago.

The new PS5 Slim models have been reduced in size by over 30% while still maintaining their original power. In North America, these models will be available at select retailers and from PlayStation directly starting in November, with a global rollout to follow. The pricing for the PS5 Slim is as follows:

– PS5 Digital Edition: $449.99 USD

Europe:

U.K.:
– PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive: £479.99 GBP
– PS5 Digital Edition: £389.99 GBP

Japan:
– PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive: 66,980 JPY (includes tax)
– PS5 Digital Edition: 59,980 JPY (includes tax)

Customers who opt for the PS5 Digital Edition will have the opportunity to purchase an attachable ‘Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive’ for $79.99 USD | €119.99 EUR | £99.99 GBP | 11,980 JPY.

In addition, Sony has announced that while the PS5 Slim will come with a horizontal stand, there will also be an optional vertical stand available for purchase at $29.99 USD | €29.99 EUR | £24.99 GBP | 3,980 JPY.
