AMD has certainly made strides in recent years

The debate between AMD and Nvidia has never been more closely contested than it is now. Both manufacturers are producing some of the best graphics cards on the market, making it difficult for consumers to determine which team holds the superiority. Regardless of personal preference, Nvidia still maintains a clear lead over AMD in several aspects.
When it comes to performance, Nvidia undeniably takes the lead in the high-end market segment. While AMD has made significant progress in recent years, Nvidia’s RTX 4090 remains unmatched by any AMD counterpart. Even AMD’s flagship RX 7900 XTX pales in comparison to Nvidia’s top GPU. This means that anyone in need of more power than what the RX 7900 XTX can offer will automatically gravitate towards Nvidia.
Nvidia’s dominance in performance is further exemplified by the significant gap between the RTX 4090 and the RX 7900 XTX. AMD has yet to close this gap, and it is unclear if or when they will be able to do so. While AMD excels in the midrange sector, Nvidia’s performance bar is set much higher, giving them the upper hand.
Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology is another area where they outshine AMD. With the release of DLSS 3, Nvidia has revolutionized gaming performance by generating entire frames instead of just pixels. This provides a significant boost in frames per second (fps), making demanding games playable on more affordable graphics cards. AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) falls short in comparison, lacking the same level of quality and impact on FPS.
Furthermore, Nvidia’s dominance in ray tracing technology is clear. Despite AMD’s progress, Nvidia remains the king of ray tracing, especially at higher resolutions. Even with upscaling assistance, AMD’s current-gen best struggles to compete with Nvidia’s previous-gen RTX 3090. The RTX 4090 offers double the frame rate in comparison.
While AMD has made improvements with their FSR technology and may catch up in the future, Nvidia continues to push forward with DLSS 3.5 and new features such as Ray Reconstruction. This consistently keeps Nvidia ahead of the competition.
In conclusion, while AMD has certainly made strides in recent years, Nvidia still holds a commanding lead over them in terms of performance, DLSS technology, and ray tracing capabilities. Unless AMD can bridge the gap and introduce their own competitive solutions, Nvidia is likely to maintain their superiority in the foreseeable future.
