At the Park

At the Park

.

The Press: Periodically throughout the day, a food vendor arrives at Unidad Park to sell Chicharron and other Mexican snacks. He does not stay long and catches whoever happens to be in the park at the time.

In My Mind: It is hot. Chicharron is the last thing I would want to eat in this heat. I would be so much more excited if he was an ice cream vendor. The park is empty, because everybody should be in school, but perhaps this are is just not very populated to begin with. This is very different from what I expected of my preconception of ethnic enclaves within Los Angeles. Chinatown and Koreatown have much foot traffic and many businesses. This is much different. There are high school-looking students inhabiting the park right now. There are three of them. We are currently in the park during school hours, so perhaps they are ditching school. It is not certain. They are dressed like typical high school students. They just cat called at a woman who walked by in a magenta pink tracksuit. What is this space used for when there is nobody here? We are the only people here. A car passes by every now and then. But there is just quiet.
