Thania Lucero
I am a second year transfer student from Citrus college. Currently, I am studying Chicana/o Studies with a minor in Labor and Work Place Studies at UCLA. My research interest include race, ethnicity, labor exploitation, and religion. During my junior year I applied for departmental honors and for the Undergraduate Research Fellows program. I was accepted into both programs. Consequently, my senior honors thesis is being funded by the Undergraduate Research Fellows program. My thesis focuses on the historic U.S. labor exploitation of people of color. My heart belongs in the classroom, and I aspire to become a professor in the future.
As a transfer student I am also committed to helping community college students achieve their goal of transferring. I do this by helping and encouraging people within my immediate circle of friends at Citrus College. The achievements that I am most proud of in my academic career is having being named Citrus College Woman of the Year 2012. Most of my time is divided between school, and volunteering at a non-profit organization that provides skill enrichment classes to union workers known as Building Skills Partnership.
