Rev. William Wesley Daup

The Rev. William W. Daup was born in Lawdenville, Ohio, on 28 October 1881, the son of John and Susannah (Schoab) Daup. He attended Howe Military Academy, Hobart College, and Virginia Theological Seminary, then began his career as an assistant at Trinity Church, Fort Wayne, serving there from 1907 to 1909. He became close friends with its rector, the Rev. Edward Averill, and returned to Fort Wayne several times as a supply priest. He married there on 19 August 1912, Ada Howard. After leaving Trinity in 1909, Daup moved to Bryan, Texas, where he served a church until 1913, when he was called as rector of St. John's Church, Elkhart. He remained there until 1919, and then spent two years as vicar of St. Luke's in Hartford City. In 1933, he became rector of a church in Decatur, Illinois. He died in Rochester, Minnesota, on 29 June 1940 and was buried in Lindenwood Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
