Rev. William Richmond

The Rev. William Richmond was born in England on 7 May 1830. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1857, moved to Canada, and was ordained to both the diaconate and priesthood by the Bishop of Quebec in 1858 and 1859 respectively. He began his work in Compton, Quebec, and was at Bishop's College, Lennoxville, from 1865 to 1870. From here he moved to Indiana and became rector of St. James, South Bend, from 1870 to 1877. He then moved to Mankato, Minnesota, serving a pioneer church there from 1877 to 1883, then returned to Indiana to serve at St. Anne's School in Indianapolis from 1883 to 1884. He moved to Sioux City, Iowa, serving there from 1886 to 1890; moved to Irving Park, Chicago, Illinois, from 1890 to 1893, then to General Mission, Kansas, from 1893 to 1895. He became rector of St. Luke's Church, Wyoming, Illinois, in 1895, but by 1900 returned to Sioux City, where he spent the remainder of his career. He married Augusta (__) with whom he had several children. He died in Sioux City on 13 December 1914 and is buried with his wife in Logan Park Cemetery.
