Rev. Thomas Fothergill Stoll

The Rev. Thomas F. Stoll was born in South Bend, Indiana, on 29 May 1939, the son of George Engman and Margaret Elinor (Fothergill) Stoll. He graduated fromthe University of Notre Dame in 1961 and received a Master of Divinity from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in 1964. He was ordained a deacon and a priest that year by Bishop Klein. He married Sterling Helmel Cole on 2 September 1961. He began his career serving as vicar of St. Mary's Church in Delphi and St. Alban the Martyr in Monticello, from 1964 to 1966. He was also assigned to St. Peter's, Rensselaer, from 1965 to 1966 and oversaw the construction and dedication of the building. He became curate for Christ Church, Gary, from 1966 to 1968, and then moved to Birmingham, Michigan, as rector of the Church of the Nativity from 1968 to 1973. From there he became rector of Grace Church in Traverse City, Michigan, from 1974 to 1985. He returned to Indiana as rector of St. Paul's, Indianapolis, serving there from 1985 to 1994. He then had non-parochial status, serving as an associate of All Saints Church in Indianapolis and as chaplain of St. Vincent Hospital. He died of cancer on 8 March 2001 in Indianapolis and his cremated remains are interred in the Episcopal Church of All Saints Columbarium.
