Sherwood Rosevelt was born in Southport, Connecticut, on 19 April 1855, the son of Marcus Brutus Rosevelt and Juliette (Sherwood). He married Mary Frances Clark in Brooklyn, New York, on 2 February 1880. Ordained that same year, he served three parishes in the diocese, including St. John's Bristol, St. James Goshen, and St. Paul's Mishawaka. By 1900 he was serving a church in Brooklyn and in 1910 in Manhattan. He died st Arlington, Vermont, on 24 September 1923.
