Rev. Josiah Phelps

The Rev. Josiah Phelps was born about 1820 in New York. He married Mary Ann Turpie on 4 June 1850. He served as rector of Trinity, Logansport, from 1849 to 1850, and of St. Mary's, Delphi, from 1850 to 1851. From there he went to Trinity Church, Mineral Point, Wisconsin, where he was a delegate to the General Convention in 1856. He later moved to Michigan and served a church at Port Huron from 1859 to 1861. During the Civil War he moved north to Marquette, Michigan, serving there from 1862 to 1866. In the 1870s, he came to Tecumseh, Washtenaw County, Michigan, and was enumerated there on the 1880 census. He died there on 24 January 1895 and is buried in Brookside Cemetery.
