Albert Bingham was born on 30 August 1824 in Livingston County, New York, the son of Sluman and Clementine (Williams) Bingham. He graduated from Nashotah House Seminary and was enumerated on the census there in 1850. Between 1851 and 1852, he served as rector of St. Peter's Church in Ashtabula, Ohio. In May 1853, he arrived as a missionary at St. Mark's, Lima, Indiana, and stayed initially through 1854. At the same time he also did missionary work at nearby Bristol, Goshen, and Elkhart, conducting services there on a regular basis. Bishop Upfold noted in his convention address that he had "visited the missionary station at Goshen in charge of the Rev. Albert Bingham in connection with the parish of St. John, Elkhart..." The following day the bishop visited Elkhart "which is occasionally visited by the Rev. Mr. Bingham." Bingham returned for a second stint as rector of St. Mark's in Lima in August 1856, but his efforts were cut short when he died there on 2 August 1858, aged just 33. He was buried at Nashotah House with Bishop Jackson Kemper performing the burial rites.
