Digital Writing

Comic Life

Comic Life by Plasq contains a series of templates, frames, and other features to incorporate images and text and make neat  visual essays.  Using a platform like Comic Life encourages students to think about their topics (historical, scientific, fictional, and sociological) visually, consider ways to sequence ideas to promote readability, and choose a path to make their points and reach a designated conclusion.  The makers of the software make suggestions for classroom use on their site.  Students enjoy this kind of writing and feel free to experiment with ideas and engage in risky writing.

Comic Life has a free 30 day trial.  After the trial period, the software costs $29.95.  However, all the PCs at the Freedman Center at KSL are loaded with this software to use without charge!

Printing their comic books in color encourages sharing.
