Education Present (2015-2016)
Department Description:
The mission of the department of education is to prepare caring, competent, and qualified teachers who act in the best interests of the students they serve. In working to become a professional educator, students will develop knowledge and skills in the areas of child/adolescent learning and development, pedagogical content knowledge, classroom management, and classroom ecology all within the context of a high quality liberal arts education. The teacher education program is guided by firm commitment to the idea of service to others, and provides many opportunities for students to serve children and adolescents while simultaneously developing and fine-tuning teaching skills during clinical field experiences which occur during each phase of the program.
