"2012" - Summary

The movie starts off in 2009, it is discovered in India by Indian and American geologists that massive solar flares are causing never seen before reactions causing earths internal temperature to rapidly increase. With this information, the American Geologist Adrian Helmsley travels to DC informing the president and high-level officials of this information and what could potenially happen. With this information the United Sates and the world’s top nations begin a covert operation in order to protect humanities survival. This operation is lead in the Himalayas where a covert operation is leading the production of giant modern-day arks that are not only meant to carry the worlds species of animals and plants but 400,000 people as well. During this time small natural disasters begin to occur around the world as well as strange deaths of certain key individuals. Jumping to present day - 2012 the protagonist Jackson Curtis works as a limo driver for a Russian Billionaire. While Jackson is taking his kids on a camping trip at Yellowstone he discovers a secret government testing site and meets a strange conspiracy theorist reporter who tells Jackson about the strange actions of the government and coincidences of deaths in the past years. After returning back from camping, Jackson soon realizes what is about to happen to earth. This is even confirmed after more seismic activity begins to occur as well as overhearing his Russians client children talking while driving them to the airport. With the knowledge of earths end, Jackson narrowly makes it out Los Angeles with his kids, ex-wife and her new husband in a airplane that he rented out. This all happens while California is ingulfed beneath their feet with catastrophic earthquakes, fires, and flooding.
While at a landing stop, Jackson, runs into his Russian clients and their pilot, again narrowly escaping on a new aircraft with the russians, and now setting way for China after finding out that the Russians have a ticket to board the the covert arks. After a crash landing in China, and miraculously making it out of the plane in a Bentley, the group is soon spotted by the Chinese Army who only takes the Yuri the Russian billionaire and his 2 kids who possessed tickets for the arks while the rest were left behind in the moutains. Being left behind the group is found by Nama, a monk who has discovered the arks – he picks them up and plans to smuggle his grandparents and his new tag along group into the arc. While Nama and the group head towards the arks, in the chaos of the incoming Mega Tsunami the arks door gears become stuck preventing the doors from closing – not allowing the ship engines to operate and letting the rushing flood waters into the ship. Nama and the group have reached the ark and now Jackson with the help of his son Noah dislodge the broken gear and close the door allowing the arc to regain its engines and steer away from an incoming impact with the largest mountain – Mt. Everest.
Jumping 2 months after earths end, some of earths flood waters have began to reced and the arc opens it doors for the first time to the outside, while setting way for new land at the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.
