Chapter 3.2 Cuyahoga Earned Income Tax Credit
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a free tax preparation service for low and moderate income families. Every year the Cuyahoga EITC coalition sets out and assists families in Cuyahoga county with their taxes. The coalition returns $30 to the community for every $1 spent on program costs and in 2015 competed over 13,000 federal tax returns. Since its inception in 2005, the Cuyahoga EITC coalition has helped over 90,000 families, and refunds back to the community have reached $18.9 million. EITC’s mission is to promote economic prosperity and improve lives through tax assistance and asset building programs and activities that move low to moderate income families from financial uncertainty to to financial security. Cuyahoga Earned Income Tax Credit attracts many influential donors including Citizens Bank, Key bank, PNC, and United Way of Greater Cleveland. This organization's impressive outreach, lucrative pool of donors, and reputation for assisting low income families gives it its all-star status.
