Cleveland's Nonprofit All-Stars

Chapter 2 - Jewish Federation of Cleveland

The Jewish Federation of Cleveland (JFC) strives for more than just charitable donations. This non-profit is the best Cleveland charity in terms of creating continuity through faith. Per their website, the JFC is a "110+ year old community cornerstone that aspires to leave no community member behind" (JewishCleveland). This charity creates bonds within the community.  They strive to help every member of the Jewish community in Cleveland prosper and flourish.

Personal ties to this organization are very evident. All four chairmen are invested in the organization’s continued success. The chairs, Bob Reitman, Marcia Wexberg, Tom Adler, and Sandy Wuliger, have all dedicated their lives and legacies to the advancement Jewish giving in Cleveland. Reitman talks about the importance of legacy gifts, explaining that these pledges of annual donations will lead to the continued prosperity of Jewish identity in Cleveland.  A legacy gift is an annual pledge of money after death. Wexberg, Adler, and Wuliger all mention their own personal legacy gifts, reaffirming that they remain completely invested in the non-profit they dedicated their lives to (Living Generously 4-5). Due to the exemplary leadership of these chairmen, this organization raised upwards of $30 million in 2015. The Jewish Federation of Cleveland is a leader in the faith- based field because of their selflessness, and strong ties to religious identity.
