Changing Landscapes: From "The ASU Story" to Modern A-State

First Generation College Students

The statistics on First Generation College Students were obtained from the the document "First-Time Freshmen by Educational Attainment of Parents," produced by the Office of Institutional Research [1]. The Office of Institutional Research stressed the fact that these numbers are self-reported by the students, and therefore will not match up with enrollment numbers and should be viewed accordingly. Students may choose not to answer, parents may not what that information known, students may not know their parent's educational attainment, and there is no differentiation regarding which parent the student is answering about. None the less, it is still an interesting snapshot of first-time freshmen's responses.
