Changing Landscapes: From "The ASU Story" to Modern A-State

The Students

Arkansas State University is made up of a diverse group of students. The University has kept a wide variety of statistics on the makeup of campus for reporting purposes.  For the purposes of this project the years detailed will range from 1979-2017 depending on what is being reported.  These figures can be found in the ASU System Factbooks from the various years.  Photographs from the student yearbook can give one view of the campus, but by looking at concrete numbers one gains a potentially different perspective of how the physical landscape of the student body has changed over these many years.  Not everyone gets their photo taken for the yearbook. Not everyone is part of a campus organization.  But the University is responsible for keeping a record of these numbers, even if there is no photographic or other evidence.  This page leads to data on enrollment statistics by ethnicity as well as total numbers, degrees awarded by ethnicity of various groups, and a brief glimpse of self-reported data on first-generation freshmen with regards to their parents' education.
