Biography:
John McLennan was a Lieutenant in the Edinburg police, and known to be a fine highland piper. By his death on December 25th, 1923, he had transcribed over 7,000 tunes for the highland pipes, with a focus on the esoteric tradition of piobaireachd. His son, George Stewart McLennan came to be known as a prolific composer of tunes for the highland pipes. And article on the McLennans can be found here.
