Capturing O'Neill: Dedication pages of books on Irish traditional music, signed by Capt. Francis O'Neill

Book Titles

Capt. Francis O'Neill compiled seven books on the subject of Irish music—books of dance tunes and airs; books with dance tunes arranged for piano; and treatises on the musicians he saw as foundational in the movement of Irish traditional music. His (oft-claimed but not necessarily proven) neice edited the 1910 book of his tunes, and was a central figure in arranging many of his collected pieces for piano. Her claims of deafness in later years may have been a convenient overstatement of actuality. O'Neill's 1922 book was reissued two years later to correct a number of errors. Clicking on the titles below will bring you to details about each volume, and a list of existing dedication pages.
