Weinstein was born in Rzeszów, a city in Galicia and moved to Palestine in 1924. Under Khatskl's managment, Kassit became very successful, attracting prominent figures who were habitués of other cafés—the writers Avraham Shlonsky, Nathan Alterman, Leah Goldberg, Avraham Halfi, Alexander Penn, Ya’akov Orland, Menashe Levin, and Avot Yeshurun; the actors Hannah Rovina, Aharon Meskin, and Raphael Klatzkin; and the painters Reuven Rubin and Yosef Zariztki.
