Scalar Chaos!
“We will need to create a digital portfolio for English which is worth 40 percent of your overall grade.” Professors Pringle’s words hit me like a stack of books. My peers and I were presented by Scalar. Scalar is a platform on the web which help you keep your work organized or create a book for any occasion. In this case, we were given a task to take all our writing pieces over the course, self-assessment of the overall semester of class and classwork, and creativeness to set up a portfolio on scalar to present to the professor and the English department.
My view on scalar drastically changed from the beginning to now. In the beginning, I had a difficult time navigating my way through scalar; I had no idea how to upload media files, music files, and creatively incorporate techniques to catch the audience's attention.Professor Pringle wa also a new user of scalar and trying her best to guide us through each of the scalar steps in order to make our portfolios presentable Overtime, I realized I would need to begin my Scalar portfolio assignment which was then a perfect timing and I began playing around with scalar. As hours and days passed, I finally learned how to incorporate images, gifs, create tags and paths. One of the biggest Scalar struggles I faced was the writing format pasted into scalar and shown to the audience. The copy/paste of format from google docs and the word was a major fail, but I some how managed to format the Annotated bibliography.
Overall my feelings toward scalar is fairly well, I enjoyed the design aspect of the portfolio which presented my creativity and ability to go beyond the professor's standards and amaze her with my hidden creativeness. My scalar experience went from a disastrous, hand-raised high, impatient media platform to an enthusiastic, know-it-all, creationism and likable media platform which I enjoyed.
