The main characters of the book, Jessie Oliver and Leslie Burke, were two best friends who had an inspiring friendship. Leslie taught Jesse that life was about taking risks and trying your best to have fun. She not only was a mentor to Jesse, but also a mentor to her readers. Leslie helped readers understand that sometimes in life, you have to block all the negativity, close your eyes, keep your mind open, and persevere to get to the other side. Like Jesse who was finally able to swing across the creek.

This is a visual representation of a graph presents the statistics of the Number of Syrian refugees being registered from 2012 through 2015. It also presents the increasing registration and decreasing registration which vary through the years.

This article is a poll of Americans who don’t want to accept Syrian Refugees into the United States and a percentage of Americans agreeing to accept refugees. Both political party, Democratic and republican’s views are presented.

This article is powerful because it’s a personal and powerful experience told by a Syrian refugee, who was fleeing Syria during a massive warzone time. Dima and her son Aylan were dressed and ready to start their overwhelming escape from Syria. The purpose of this article is to show that Syrians should be accepted into the U.S because they are experiencing hardships.

After denying access to Syrian Refugees, Obama understands the problems these Syrians are facing and takes the initiative to stand for them and fight to help the innocent Syrian Refugee lives. Obamas statistical and informative facts are shown in the article which presents his position that Syrians should be able to find safe haven.

This article presents how women perceive their body because of media. The idea of women changing for media is a message that women are not happy about themselves. Women believe that they need to be skinnier in order to be more attractive. The article mentions various statistics from broadcast media, companies, and even surveys present that media has a strong influence on women, who believe that the desire to achieve the same body as the model causes a decline in self-esteem.

This article presented by M. Alison Denzer-an undergraduate psychology major of Wesleyan University that girls who are growing and maturing are illustrated in media that deals with how people truly look, this makes young girls unhappy with how they look. Also, the way women are presented on television not only advertises ideal models, but it also presents gender stereotypes. Women are stereotyped to show certain characteristics which can affect their self-esteem negatively.

This article presents how introverts and extroverts portray themselves on social media, one social media they use is Instagram. Some use it to show their positivity, others use it to show negativity. The effects of these positive and negative outcomes change their self-esteem in various ways. Likewise, low spirits can cause people to become unhappy or dissatisfied with themselves, which is low self-esteem. Images of other people's lives are shown on Instagram, and this can cause a damaging as well as positive social comparison.

The article presents the concept of self-esteem. Moreover, how self- esteem is viewed by society. Three characteristics are shown in the article: consciousness, awareness, and extraversion which are the key components that makeup self-esteem. These characteristics help society see the social impact on humans when they deal with self-esteem.

This article deals with an experiment done by a Yale University student. The purpose of this study is to consider the effects of new genres affecting women and impact of women’s body image. The experiment dealt with 82 female participants asked to fill out a survey which asked if television viewing habits affect women to measure body image. The outcome of the survey exaggerated no relationship between television viewing and body image.

This article focuses on the crucial part of social media. If a picture is liked, it shows that people are valuing and putting time and effort to scroll past your daily media life. However, if a post is not liked, this shows that a person may be lonely. The article states that there is a different level of self-esteem between “to like” and “not to like.”

This article introduces the effect media has over men and women’s satisfaction over their body. The men feel more confident over their body than women. Women feel unhappy. The media advertises skinny women as well as men who are well built. However, both genders had the same self-esteem and social comparison levels.

This article explains how social media is perceived by society. Media platform for most people is a place to be creative presenting conflicts which will be fought through to a greater solution instead of failing to achieve what is desired. Boys and girls are concerned about the body images and how they are viewed according to Media’s comments.
