Performing the Diagram
The diagrammatic mode of thinking has been used by
philosophers including Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, Michel Foucault [2] and Alain Badiou [2] as a way
of developing arguments which are not limited to linear or dialectic forms of
thinking. Consider how much thought and how much discourse have emerged from the figures of the Rhizome and the Panopticon, and also consider how thinkers like Badiou use diagrams to make claims about contemporary art and philosophy. A live database of material that can draw its own connections on the fly facilitates this kind of thinking in new ways.
