Sitting on the hills overlooking Boyle Heights, Ganahl Street became home to several of the leading figures in Los Angeles' Yiddish literary world, including writers H. Goldovsky, Shia Miller, and I. Friedland. The street was positioned between Boyle Heights and its more affluent neighbor, City Terrace, just a few blocks north of the central commercial area of the district where many of its Yiddish organizations were located, giving its residents easy access to Yiddish cultural life in the area. This tag identifies both the works of the writers who lived there, as well as works about the street and its residents.
