Sinai Temple Men's Club: David Matloob - Ambitions and Accomplishments

As the first Jewish Iranian president of the Men’s Club, David Matloob familiarized the members of the club with Iranian Jewish culture. His symbolic presidency encouraged many other Iranian Jewish individuals to emulate his actions and, in turn, become active members of the club themselves. Still, his central goal was to unite the Iranian American and Ashkenazi community together and thus foster a strong relationship between Jewish individuals of diverse backgrounds. During his presidency, Mr. Matloob took part in organizing several major fundraisers and events, including the Youth Indoor Soccer League, Sinai Men’s softball team, and the annual fundraiser known as the Burning Bush Awards Dinner.

During David Matloob’s presidency, there was also a specific event known as the Second Annual World Wide Wrap. Both men and women of Sinai Temple Men’s Club were invited to wear tefillin during the regular morning minyan, or services. The main goal of the World Wide Wrap event was to celebrate this mitzvah while encouraging the daily practice of the tefillin wrap. This event exemplifies the Men’s Club’s mission to bring individuals together in order to “bring Jewish values to life.”
