Unlike bacterial or parasitic zoonotic diseases, viral diseases do not pass easily from human to human. Instead a vector, a mosquito for example, keeps the cycle between infection and reinfection active. Without non-human reservoirs, viral zoonotic diseases cannot survive in human populations.
