David and Elizabeth Shecket (my parents), Vladimir Jabotinsky (1880-1940), Dr. Benjamin Akzin (1904-1985)

My parents had known Jabotinsky since the 1920s when he came to Vienna. He was an important leader of the Zionist movement who arrived in the U.S. from Europe in early 1940. Benjamin Akzin was a friend of my parents from their student days and also a follower of Jabotinsky. He became a prominent Israeli academic.

Valdimir (Ze’ev) Jabotinsky was the founder of the New Zionist Organization, also known as the Zionist Revisionists who broke with the World Zionist Organization in the 1930s. His followers were the foundation of the Herut Party in Israel. Which has now become the Likud Party. Benjamin Netanyahu’s father, Ben Zion Nenanyahu, was Jabotinsky’s secretary.
