Note:   Dr. Shalin Hai-Jew has worked in higher education for many years.  She is transitioning from higher education to the next thing.

She has several e-books on Scalar: The Art of Academic Peer Reviewing and "Using NVivo: An Unofficial and Unauthorized Primer".  Querying Social Media with NodeXL describes a flexible open-source and free software add-on to Excel that enables the extraction of data from some social media platforms (including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Wikipedia, and others).  Conducting Surface Web-Based Research with Maltego Carbon describes a software tool that enables the extraction of http networks and social media data from the Surface Web as well as a wide range of data for linkage and cross-referencing; this book includes a Q&A interview with the founder of Paterva.

She publishes and reviews widely.  Springer International Publishing recently published "Data Analytics in Digital Humanities," an edited text that Hai-Jew worked on for two years.  She has authored a forthcoming text for IGI-Global in its Research Insights series titled "Techniques for Coding Imagery and Multimedia:   Emerging Research and Opportunities" (2017).  She is editing two texts currently:  "Selfies as a Mode of Social Media and Work Space Research" and "Methods for Analyzing and Leveraging Online Learning Data."

She has B.A.s in English and psychology and an M.A. in English from the University of Washington (Seattle) and a doctorate in educational leadership (with a focus on public administration) from Seattle University (in Seattle, in 2005).  She has continued with studies beyond formal degrees.

Conflicts of Interest Statement:  The author has no formal or informal tie to QSR International.

Errata:  If anything looks amiss here, please email her at haijes@gmail.com, so corrections may be made.  While every effort was made to correct errors, it is quite likely some still exist.  Thanks to all who have contacted her with questions and suggestions because each of these has contributed something to the e-text.
